The King

About Eddie Feigner…. Dave Blackburn’s Inspiration.

FYI: For the uninitiated, Eddie Feigner was indisputably the greatest softball pitcher of all-time. Since 1946, he barnstormed the world for 55 years as “The King and His Court” with a fame and flamboyance similar to the Harlem Globetrotters.

He routinely pitched a softball at over 100 mph, striking out 141,516 batters and pitched 930 no-hitters and 238 perfect games. In a 1967 exhibition at Dodger Stadium, he struck out six major leaguers – Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Brooks Robinson, Willie McCovey, Maury Wills & Harmon Killebrew – in succession.

Sports Illustrated named “The King and His Court” as the eighth greatest sports team EVER.

In 2002, ESPN named Eddie one of the top ten pitchers EVER. He passed away in 2007, and there will never be another like him.
